Yeah, I've been weird for a while, but this isn't about me. It's about Keith- a performance artist so ingenious&nbsp;that his talent paired with Liam Howlett's music &amp; Maxim's vocals propelled The Prodigy into the USA &amp; opened the previously non-existent door to techno that rock fans of many genres never dared dream of. I was no exception. I went from being alone with my confusing mix of loving all things rock'n'roll such as the Stone Temple Pilots, Goldfinger, 311, and The Doors; yet somehow accidentally acquiring stolen flashing traffic lights to have at my own rave.<br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; These rave parties were a nearly weekly summer event and a highlight of my youth.&nbsp; As strange as it may sound, I cannot conceive of my life without the camaraderie I gained from these musical parties that all started with The Prodigy. The degree of precision is comparable to Beck&rsquo;s seminole album <em>Mellow Gold,</em> though New Politics are a much needed optimistic breath of fresh air. &nbsp; There is a synchronicity in an unexpected consistency that dumbfounds me. &nbsp; They have a gift of using the most unexpected samples combined with subtle musical influences from all over the world and yet somehow - it all magically comes together.&nbsp; I am still discovering samples and sound effects added to their songs from 2013. The many layers keep their songs always feeling new. The upbeat music makes their songs desirable.&nbsp; Clearly,&nbsp;<em>Lost in Translation</em> does not waver from the unique musical recipe that New Politics fans have come to love.</font></div> <div><div class="wsite-multicol"><div class="wsite-multicol-table-wrap" style="margin:0 -15px;"> <table class="wsite-multicol-table"> <tbody class="wsite-multicol-tbody"> <tr class="wsite-multicol-tr"> <td class="wsite-multicol-col" style="width:50%; padding:0 15px;"> <div class="wsite-youtube" style="margin-bottom:10px;margin-top:10px;"><div class="wsite-youtube-wrapper wsite-youtube-size-hd wsite-youtube-align-left"> <div class="wsite-youtube-container"> <iframe src="//www.youtube.com/embed/VQ7cQ-ZKdxU?wmode=opaque" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> </div> </div></div> </td> <td class="wsite-multicol-col" style="width:50%; padding:0 15px;"> <div class="paragraph"><font size="3">&#8203;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The album opens with one of my favorite songs, &ldquo;CIA.&rdquo; It starts with a familiar reggae sample that hooks you immediately. Both the band &amp; album are personal favorite of mine. Collective Soul&nbsp;hardly ever has "filler" songs. Dosage is no exception.<br /><br />The opening track gets an unwarranted jab from folks for it being in the movie Twilight&nbsp;but whether you love or hate vampires that sparkle; the guitar is wicked insane and the intro is mysteriously seductive. What a way to open an album!&nbsp; Most people are familiar with "Heavy" and the timeless existential coming of age&nbsp;&#8203;"Run" though lesser known are the renditions of these songs with The Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra shown below.&nbsp; The live quality of their music is as impressive as their partnership with the youth from their home state.</font></div> <div><div class="wsite-multicol"><div class="wsite-multicol-table-wrap" style="margin:0 -15px;"> <table class="wsite-multicol-table"> <tbody class="wsite-multicol-tbody"> <tr class="wsite-multicol-tr"> <td class="wsite-multicol-col" style="width:49.999999999999%; padding:0 15px;"> <div class="wsite-youtube" style="margin-bottom:10px;margin-top:10px;"><div class="wsite-youtube-wrapper wsite-youtube-size-auto wsite-youtube-align-center"> <div class="wsite-youtube-container"> <iframe src="//www.youtube.com/embed/EvCpnkKTbpM?wmode=opaque" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> </div> </div></div> </td> <td class="wsite-multicol-col" style="width:49.999999999999%; padding:0 15px;"> <div class="wsite-youtube" style="margin-bottom:10px;margin-top:10px;"><div class="wsite-youtube-wrapper wsite-youtube-size-auto wsite-youtube-align-center"> <div class="wsite-youtube-container"> <iframe src="//www.youtube.com/embed/vWBAwELA8Tw?wmode=opaque" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> </div> </div></div> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </div></div></div> <div class="wsite-spacer" style="height:50px;"></div> <div class="wsite-spacer" style="height:50px;"></div> <div><div class="wsite-multicol"><div class="wsite-multicol-table-wrap" style="margin:0 -15px;"> <table class="wsite-multicol-table"> <tbody class="wsite-multicol-tbody"> <tr class="wsite-multicol-tr"> <td class="wsite-multicol-col" style="width:50%; padding:0 15px;"> <div class="paragraph"><font size="3">The single "Needs" (right) did not garner as much attention as it deserved. Local bands play often. Many famous bands visit major cities two times a year - that&rsquo;s more times than you see your childhood best friend who has kids and lives an hour away. &nbsp;Often times strangers at concerts may be seen more frequently than friends from high school or college.&nbsp; So, why not get to know them?!</span><br /><br /><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">Pick one local band and one big band. &nbsp; We all hear about supporting local artists. &nbsp; This is a way to genuinely put that into action. &nbsp; As an added bonus, you may discover previously unknown bands that make you happy. &nbsp; This also allows you to meet up with easily accessible local fans whom you jive with if need be.</span><br /><br />&#8203;<span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">Is this not "the face that launched a thousand ships?" wait- wrong reference...&nbsp;&nbsp;</span><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">To paraphrase Henry Miller, musical camaraderie&nbsp;is how I am "always ecstatic" and "filled with a divine intoxication."&nbsp; &nbsp; Is this not an ecstatic face at a social gathering?</span></font></div> <div><div class="wsite-image wsite-image-border-none " style="padding-top:10px;padding-bottom:20px;margin-left:0px;margin-right:0px;text-align:center"> <a> <img src="http://www.lawoodside.com/uploads/4/3/9/2/43927131/bosstones-happy-collage-redhead-street-team_orig.jpg" alt="Picture" style="width:auto;max-width:100%" /> </a> <div style="display:block;font-size:90%">Nitrous Subon of Germany, L.A. Private message Tom from two towns over who also digs that local band. It&rsquo;s midnight where you are? Message your bud from another country who loves that international alt rock group. &nbsp;Music is generally more emotional and accessible than say a long movie that slowly draws you in.
